My time at Salisbury School for girls

This is a graduation speech a Salisbury School student read out at her 2023 graduation.

I’d like to start off with how much my stay at Salisbury school has changed me mentally and physically. And how I’ve met such amazing and awesome people. Salisbury has taught me how to be more confident and responsible and it taught me how to act in real life scenarios. Being more used to being around people and being included in more group activities. Salisbury was like my second home and has been my second home from my very first day I came here. I’ve really enjoyed my time here, making memories.

From my very first stay in south flat to my last in north flat, both flats have really changed me, and I’ve always brought moments from both flats. Being around my friends and staff members. To designing my own space / my bedroom and collecting with other students, all different and coming from different backgrounds.

To my first day / visit at Salisbury school with my mum, the first thing I thought when we drive through those gates was “wow this is going to be my home and school for 2 years”. I wondered who my friends would be and if I would fit in. I wasn’t so keen on boarding school from seeing them in movies and being told stories about them. But little did I know was that this experience would change my life. The first person I meet was my first teacher Mrs. Rozenburg and my first flat mate, they showed me around and I was so excited to be there.

The next people I met were the wonderful horiana, fleur and indigo as well as the other amazing teachers that have changed my life. Sharyn hunt, Sue Mclean, Susan proctor, the dogs Millie and Fresia.

My first night in the south flat was weird, I was still moving into my new room and getting used to sharing a flat with someone I was so excited, because I had never done that before. It took me a while to settle into my new life. As the days went on and the terms, a new chapter of my crazy and awesome life began.

Term 1 was a new term and a new year. New people that include the following people. Skye, Kyla, Lucia, Cameron, Morgan-Rose, Eva, Mynaia, Mercedez, Shikarna, Ruby and Ruby. It was a very big change in my life, and I will never ever forget these amazing, wonderful, awesome and great girls. They really changed me and made me the person I am today. They were and are my Salisbury family. They’ll always be in my heart and be with me forever and ever.

As well as the staff at Salisbury school who have helped me through my time here, not only at the day school but at the cottage. These staff include. Aleshia, Alexey, Kelly, Amelia, Cherie, Toni, Nicky baker, Justine, Noeleen, Lisa jane Davies, Jeanette, Hierna, Judy, Tracey, Judith, Johanna, Amanda, Mariya, Vanessa, Olivia, Julie, Caro, Jude, Sarita, Chiara, Carolyn, Carmel, Sue, Laura, Kate, Meschke, Tina, Sharyn, Kim, Suzanne, Hillary, Cindy, Haley, Emma, Jennifer and the best for last Ellie.

As well as staff who have left Salisbury. Libby, Pauline, sally, jeanette, maria, Yana, Dale Rozenburg, Susan proctor, Fresia, Eddie and any others I’ve missed. I want to thank the staff and teachers for their help, always there to talk. People we can trust and know their always there for us when we need them. Cooking us food, watching over us and taking us placers. Ill also like to thank Ellie and Jen for accepting me at this school, cause if it wasn’t for you two for giving me a chance I wouldn’t be here. And thank you for the learning goals I have achieved during my stay at Salisbury school. Thank you for everything you two have done and given to the girls and me. And thank you to the girls, to my friends and my best friends too.

Mynaia you’ve probably always been with me through the tough times, sad times, happy times, bad times, funny times and grateful times. I’ve never ever trusted and shared so much with someone before, and you’re the first person I’ve really opened to. You’re like a big sister to me, you’re someone I can always talk to and share my emotions with. I know it will be very hard when I leave, and it won’t be easy for both of us. I’ll always have the memoirs of us together forever and the friendship we have is infinite, something that will never be broken.

And with that I’ll close this super long speech with a farewell Salisbury school, and I wish everyone a safe future beyond Salisbury school.
